mellotron_ opens for Sonata Arctica 4/10/10

A message from Tony:

Mellotron is getting ready to record some demos of three songs, some of which you've heard live, and others that you may not have heard. "Raven", "Here it's Over", and "Breaking Through". Were demoing them to get them fine tuned for the full length album we plan on working in on 2010.

Also, we will be playing in front... of Powerglove and Sonata Arctica on April 10th, at Blondies in downtown Detroit. Get your tickets from any of the band members for $17.50, or at the door for $20. It's going to be a great Saturday night show!

Detroit’s Premier Progressive Metal Band to Hit the Road with Jibilian/Setar

DETROIT ROCK CITY — Not content to melt faces only in the Detroit metropolitan area, mellotrön_, Detroit’s Progressive Metal, is preparing to unleash the full fury of its devastating rock arsenal across the U.S. on Disastour 2009. Disastour, a three-city assault in support of “L.A.’s Bionic Duo” Jibilian/Setar, begins on Thursday, Oct. 29 at Mojo’s in Jamestown, N.Y. (104 E. 2nd St., Jamestown NY, 14701) and will reach its epic climax on Nov. 1 at the Magic Bag in Ferndale, Mich. (22920 Woodward Avenue, Ferndale, MI 48220) on Sunday, Nov. 1. In between, the band will destroy Wilbert’s in Cleveland, Ohio (812 Huron Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio 44115) on Friday, Oct. 30.

Joining mellotrön_ and Jibilian/Setar in Jamestown will be Erie PA’s Otis, with Gravity providing added support in their hometown of Cleveland. The conquering heroes make their triumphant return to the Detroit area at the Magic Bag, the location where mellotrön_’s CD And Go was released to critical acclaim on Nov. 1, 2008.

Gettin' to work (new songs! Tour!)

Mellotrön's unofficial summer break is over with (and has been for a few weeks) and we've been working on a few things.

New Music:
We've got a few songs in the hopper right now that we've been preparing for our short tour through New York and Ohio, with Gary Jibilian. (relax, I'll get to that..) The new songs are tentatively called "Breaking Through", and "There is Blood all over the Floor". Also, look forward to a new and improved "Timbre". It's been improved with 4x more flavor.

Tour:
We've been given the opportunity to tour with LA based musician and artist Gary Jibilian, and his band Setar. The tour will look like this:

Oct. 29 - Jamestown NY - Mojo's
Oct. 30 - Cleveland OH - Wilbert's
Nov. 1 - Detroit, Mi - Magic Bag (Homecoming show! Gary is from Detroit, EVERYONE needs to be here!)
